{they said it would be easy} knitted baby bobble hat

A lot of the time, I get the urge to make something.  Anything.  It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as I’m making something.  This usually happens on my lunch break at work when I’m reading blogs or on Pinterest and there’s just so much I want to have a go at.  {All of it!  I want to make all of it!…}  And before you know it, like this past couple of days, there’s diy/craft supplies being delivered for a “wall hanging” I’m determined to make…followed by a text from Paul “What are you ordering now?”…doh!

The last Bank Holiday Sunday was no different…I wanted to make something, plus it was more the case of anything but working out… ;) .  {I’m not going to lie, for a minute there I was a little concerned about my lack of enthusiasm for running or any sort of exercise…think I’m back on track again now though…}.  Knitting and wine are also a really nice combo! ;)

With a quick check of what stash of chunky wool I had and with a new baby on it’s way in the family, I decided on this easy pattern.

In just over an hour, I had a baby hat in my hands…within an hour and a half, I was squealing at just how cute it was with the maybe-a-little-too-large-but-gosh-its-cute bobble on top!

I think maybe that’s why I like to use chunky wool so much more than the not so chunky, you can definitely see results a lot quicker.  Maybe that’s also the impatient person in me…

This would be a really nice project if you were just trying out knitting too, with just your basic knit and pearl stitches being used.

Was it really as easy as they said?  Yes!

Would I make it again?  Yes!  Who’s having a baby?! ;)

Now all I need to do is get a photo of gorgeous Myla Nel wearing it with her cute little pout!  She’s such a squish!

It’s nearly mid June and this week I intend on blogging about woolly hats and wellies…Summer in Wales, eh?! ha

Know of any patterns I need to try?  Let me know in the comments!

  1. This is so cute! I love knitting, but never have the patience to complete big projects. I have a pattern I really love which is for little jointed teddy bears knitted in fluffy wool – they aren’t too hard and make a lovely gift for a new baby! It’s called King Cole pattern 2010 (Teddy Bear and Blanket) x

  2. I like making things too. If I sit in front of the TV without something to work on I feel restless — it’s good to have something to knit over Christmas for this very reason!
